Starter Guide

Here are a lot of different guides to help you on your journey in EMC!

How to play EMC

To play EMC, start by setting up a base to store your valuables, explore the world, identify a goal such as building friendships, structures, a town, or even a nation, and then begin working towards it; remember to vote daily for rewards (which can be sold for 6g each), always secure your valuables in ender chests, and most importantly, have fun!

Mayor guide

To create a town, ensure you have 64g in your ender chest, then use /t new TOWNNAME at a location at least two plots away from other towns. Make sure you’re alone to avoid being hunted down. If you want to join the Vermont nation, keep your town within 3,500 blocks to stay safe. Each extra chunk claimed will cost 16g, and you can press F3+G to view chunk sizes.

To assign plots for new residents, use /plot fs 0 on the desired chunk and have the new resident use /plot claim. Never use /t fs 0, as this allows anyone to take over your town. Instead, for giving plots to foreign players or townspeople, use /plot set embassy.

Ensure your town’s public spawn is disabled. Only toggle it public with /t toggle public when necessary, which costs 3g and requires a sufficient town bank balance. The daily upkeep for a public town is 3g, and if your bank runs dry, your town will fall into ruins.

For town planning, building roads and designing a town square is recommended, and terraforming to fit the natural landscape is encouraged. To recruit residents, use /t invite PLAYERNAME or ask players to join your town via /t join YOURTOWN.

If you’re leaving the town or disbanding, it’s best to ask in nation chat if anyone is interested in buying or taking over the town to avoid wasting gold. Interested players can either join the town using /t join YOURTOWN, and you can sell it with /t set PRICE followed by them using /t buy, or simply gift it by setting them as mayor using /t set mayor PLAYERNAME. This keeps gold from being wasted and ensures our region remains strong and united. Thank you!

EXP guide

EXP in the game increases exponentially, so it’s essential to manage it efficiently by using /bottle store AMOUNT to save your experience points. For instance, repairing a tool that costs 4 levels will consume 40 EXP if you go from level 4 to 0, but it would use 400 EXP if you go from level 30 to 26. To avoid wasting EXP, always use /bottle store AMOUNT to reduce your level to exactly what you need before performing actions like tool repairs or using the enchantment table.

For enchantments, moving from level 30 to 27 costs 300 EXP, but dropping from level 40 to 37 uses around 600 EXP. Hence, always store excess EXP beforehand with /bottle store AMOUNT. To make it easier, you can use /bottle store max to store all your EXP, then break the bottle and use /bottle store AMOUNT_NEEDED to get just the right levels for your tasks.

You can buy EXP bottles at locations like /n spawn Brazil or /n spawn Mali for about 1g per 1,300 EXP, though the exact rate might vary. If you own land and want to generate wealth, building a cactus farm and selling EXP is a popular strategy for becoming rich.

Oce’s guide against scammers:

  • Rule number 1 : never trust strangers
  • Rule number 2 : never travel with valuables on you. This includes G sets (unless you’re on the hunt), gold and high value items
  • Rule number 3 : always keep an eye on the dynmap for hunters. There are a lot of them in North America. Always has been and always will be
  • Rule number 4 (kinda is) : always expect the worse from people and appreciate the best

Deseret’s Guide to become mayor:

How do I become a mayor in Vermont?

To become a mayor in Vermont, you’ll need 64 gold (g), which you can save up by voting regularly, mining, and taking on jobs for other players. Once you’ve saved enough and found a spot you’d like to settle in, claim it by using the command /t create <townName>. Afterward, you can officially join the Vermont nation by typing /n Vermont. Congratulations, you’re now a mayor in Vermont!

If you already have more than 64g, consider buying a prebuilt town for sale near existing Vermont towns, which can give you a head start in the game. The more challenging part comes with recruiting residents to grow your town, as they are key to its success. When someone joins, make an effort to help them by providing basic tools and armor, giving them a plot, and guiding them if they’re new to the server. If your town is large, offer a tour to help them get oriented.

To recruit new players, you can use the bots in the Vermont Discord server and run the /townless command to find players without a town. Feel free to message them and see if they’re interested in joining. Before reaching out, check how long they’ve been on the server by using /res <playerName>, as older players might just be hopping towns for free items.

Once you have a steady group of residents, you’ve become a successful mayor! You can then participate in Vermont’s politics, help shape your town’s future, and perhaps even save enough gold to create your own nation someday. The possibilities are endless!
